We have been having a lot of conversations lately that begin with “Remember when…” These might not mean much to many of you, but I want to document the things that have been on our minds lately.
Remember when…
- We found that “sea poo” (aka sea cucumber) in Portugal
- We were on that bus in Barcelona and daddy stepped off to take a picture and the bus drove away, leaving him running behind us
- We used to go to Hardwick Heath and ride on the zip line and see all of the wild bunnies
- Emmett cut his fingers with the hedge trimmers
- We went into that big “Mouth of Hell” at BLACKGANG CHINE.
- Finn thought that we were going down to see the “Whale” at Hastings…instead of the “well”
- We swam with jelly fish all around us and saw a Portuguese Man of War in the Azores.
- We fed a huge deer buck at the park in Portugal
- We chased lizards outside our hotel in Terceira (I am noticing that Portugal seems to be our most memorable vacation spot!)
- We went inside that volcano…in Portugal
- Mama threw Augi in the snow in her swim-suit in Germany
- We went on that catamaran to see dolphins and Emmett got sick
- We got to hold baby lambs during lambing season…and build caves at Jimmy’s Farm
- Grandma Valerie used to give us orange Trident gum from her purse
- Bellsie and Augi used to have “midnight feasts” (at around 9p.m.)
- We used to climb that big tree at the Abbey Gardens
- That guy was drunk in the cemetery and we called the ambulance and he crawled away from them
- Heidi and Emmett would turn the table over and pretend it was a pirate ship
- We went camping and Augi caught a fish and Emmett caught a “Zombie Fish”
- Emmett put googly eyes on a giant boulder for his pet rock…while camping…and remember Emmett acting out “hat” during charades.
- Our hiding place in the hedge and under the tree in our Linton Gardens yard
- Augi used to slide down the stair banister every day…even in her sleep.
- Emmett used to leave notes for our neighbor Gill, and he had an imaginary friend called “Hippo-hippo’s Grandpa”
There are more, and I will have to start writing them down as we talk about them. What do I notice about these memories? They are all about friends and family and spending time together. Thanks for all of the wonderful memories!
