Happy Days at the Zoo

Posted by Picasa

The Girls.

Augi had a great time this weekend imitating her cousin Jaid and holding and feeding Jaid's baby sister India. Take note--I MADE the dress Augi is wearing in this picture. Call me Martha. I am crafty.

Ew. Viewer discretion is advised.

Here is a picture of the 24 hour old babies. They are cute in their own special kind of way. I guess.

BUNNIES!!!

They have arrived! 6 sweet little baby bunnies were born today. They look like tiny little pink piglets. Minnie is eating like crazy and she looks sort of skinny. Augi was only interested for a second. If she can't hold them, she really doesn't care. Chris is complaining that we went from no bunnies to 2, then to 1, and now to 7. I PROMISE I will find new homes for them. But for the next 8 weeks---they are all mine! Watch out for strange packages on your doorstep--it might be a wonderful bunny gift from me. I am going to try to not poke at them for a few days. Then, I will take some pictures. BTW--bunnies are WAY better than guinea pigs. I can train my litter box trained bunny to be cuddly. Try litter training your cuddly guinea pig. You know who you are.

It's Almost Summer!

Augi is a busy girl. A morning in the life of Augi? Slave over a hot stove to make cupcakes, make "chinos" (that is cappacino in Augish) for mom and dad, then create a beautiful clay necklace. Whew.
I have 11 work days left! Augi has 9 daycare days left. (More like 5 or so because she'll talk her daddy into letting her play hookie at least 4 times)

Bobo the easter bunny has gone to a new home. I have to trust that he will be well cared for. I get very attached to little critters, but I don't have the time or money to care for him right now. Minnie is settling in. She has the new inside villa. She was super easy to box train. She hops all over and occasionally stops by to nuzzle me. She isn't as cuddly as I expected a bunny to be. Maybe she'll be more affectionate after the babies come next week! She is a whole 4 weeks pregnant. She is a fast little bugger, or else I would have more pictures of her.

Summer Fever

We have summer fever at our house. Spring fever is long gone. I set up a little pool and let her go crazy. A wise friend told me 80 degrees is an acceptable temperature for outdoor swimming. Augi couldn't have waited another second. After swimming, she discovered that the sand pile is very warm and cozy. We topped off our day with a yumma ice cream. Not one person better dare make fun of her swim suit. I will not allow this little girl to have sunburned skin for as long as I am in charge. That is at least until 21, right?
I only have a few weeks left at work. And, IKEA opens in 2 1/2 weeks. I haven't decided if I will brave the crowds on the first day.

The Easter Bunnies!!!!

We set a trap and caught two easter bunnies! They are tricky little creatures--similar to their distant cousin, the leprechaun. But we outsmarted them. The brownish male is called BoBo. The greyish female is Minnie. They are very sweet. I am working on litter box training them so they can come inside. After last night's romp around the house I am sure we will have baby easter bunnies in about 30 days.

BFF

So, it is not easy to get pics of two toddlers. They had fun together. BFF, just like Paris and Nicole. Minus the eating disorders, drugs, naughty videos, and money of course.

Little Picasso

Augi made a paper mache' easter egg, and today it was dry--so she painted it! We heard that the easter bunny will put treats in it if we leave it out. We'll see...
Augi is currently walking around with her camera saying, "Cheese!" to her dolls and she just told me she is "Tanny." (That's aunt Tammy in Augish)

Sweet Dreams Little Girl

I had the sweetest little conversation with Augi tonight. I need to write it down, so I don't forget. I was rocking her to sleep; we had been sitting in the dark for nearly an hour. She had already asked for water, her daddy, cookies, and she told me her very dry diaper was poopy, and when I didn't believe her, she changed it to pee-pee (just a little white lie, right?) Our conversation went like this:
Augi: Papa!!
Me: You love your Papa.
Augi: Ya. Bunnies!
Me: Your Papa has cute little bunnies.
Augi: Ya. Puuuuuppppy!
Me: Yes, your Papa got a new puppy.
Augi: Niiiice.
Me: Yes, that puppy is very nice.
Augi: Nose.
Me: Yes, the puppy has a cute little nose.
Augi: Nanny!
Me: Yes, Nanny will get to play with the puppy tomorrow.
Augi: Toy!
Me: That puppy has its own toy
Augi: Animal.
Me: Yes, it is a stuffed animal.
Augi: Wanda. (sad little voice.)
Me: Do you miss your aunt Wanda?
Augi: Ya. And Bonnie.
Then, she fell asleep.

wanna wrastle?!

Hilo Mr. Snowman!!!

Yah-Yah

Meet Yah-Yah. His birth certificate says "Les". We have always called him Les. Augi has been calling him Yah-Yah. Fine. She can name her dolls whatever she wants. Yah-Yah is quite metrosexual. He would wear clothes, but it is forbidden in the House of Augi.

Busy Busy Bees

We really have been quite busy. I don't know why it has been so long since my last post. I have started a new post several times, but I get interrupted and can't get it finished. We are doing great, though. I love this little picture of Augi and Zion. We went to the zoo with Auntie Kris. Zion has a new baby sister and his mommy and daddy needed some time with her. So, we chased him around the zoo. Speaking of India, the new baby, Augi is in love with her. She could barely contain her excitement to hold her last night. She was so gentle and touched her little toes and head.

Grandma Valerie, aka "Bonnie", visited us last week. Augi was thrilled to have someone new to boss around.

We are very sad tonight because our beloved auntie Wanna (ok, it's really Wanda) is leaving in the morning. I adore her. She has the greatest stories. She and Grandpa didn't see each other for 50 years, and they were reunited a few years ago.

We went swimming today...stay tuned for more pictures.

I need to post some pics of Nanny. Poor little neglected thing. She is having so many seizures lately. She is great with Augi, though.
Oh--the bunny is pregnant. We will hopefully have one in just a few months.

You can never have enough cousins!

Augi has a new cousin--and she is a girl---Yeah!!!! She is so sweet. We can't wait to squeeze her again. She was a little early. She doesn't have a name yet, so we will just call her Cutest Patutest. Celeste would strangle me if she knew I put this picture of her up, but I still think it is cute.

Cough Syrup is Goooooood....

We are all recovering, but we are all still sick. We had to take Augi back to the doc because at the end of her antibiotic, she was still rashy and sick. They said the antibiotic wasn't strong enough, she still has a strep infection, so now she is on the next level of antibiotic. We are so incredibly sleep deprived. TTYL.

Scarlet Fever?

What the *@#?
I thought scarlet fever was something little women and boys with velveteen rabbits died from. I thought it was long gone with the advent of hand sanitizer or clean drinking water or something. Well, Augi has it. She is starting to feel better on her antibiotic. We have had lots of long days and restless nights. Hopefully she will be fully recovered by the end of the weekend.

It's the Underpants Gnome!!!

This is a rare shot of an Underpants Gnome at work in Chris' underwear drawer. We had to sneak up on it to get the picture. You should have seen it run when it spotted us!! For those of you who don't watch SouthPark, we are sad for you. You won't get this at all.

Welcome to 2007

This picture is a little delayed...but, it's still cute. She is so stinkin' adorable. She can do matching puzzles and she pretends to write our names. At dinner tonight she was pretending her lettuce was a bunny, hopping along the tray. She is so bossy with her daddy. He loves it. Today she was very concerned because we took Nanny to the vet and groomer. She loves her Nanny. I had a big scare on Wednesday--Augi fell and hit her head at the store. She then threw up. She was fine in the end--probably just made herself vomit by crying so hard. I think I am much more traumatized by the whole event. We are going shopping for a helmet this weekend and she will be required to wear it at all times.
Anyway, we would like to send out a little note for our Elmie Family Friends--Elmie was a sweetie and you gave him a great life.

Merry Christmas

Ew--I completed a post, and for some reason it disappeared, so I have to start over...

Christmas was so fun. Augi was excited and very spoiled by Mimi and Papa. She got a book and dolly from Santa. We have contemplated the whole issue of "lying" about Santa. We have decided it is not an issue for us. We will pretend there is a Santa because pretending is how children practice so many things. It is their job. We will pretend a nice jolly elf called Santa brings little boys and girls a present on Christmas just like we pretend to eat pickles and cookies with the Monster and Ostrich. If she asks us if Santa is real, we will say no, he isn't real, but isn't it fun to pretend that he is! The spirit of Santa is what we will celebrate. As for this year, she couldn't care less about Santa. She loved opening the presents at first, but she got very tired after a while. Eventually, she would throw the gifts and shout, "No!" if we handed her one. We let her take her time.

Yesterday we went to the park to feed the ducks. Oh my god...those birds were hungry! As we walked to the pond, they spotted us. There were probably 300 birds walking towards us. They nipped my fingers a few times. Augi found it very amusing. I was a little frightened. I was sad for the gimpy birds. Augi kept signing "more eat" because she wanted to feed each and every bird.

Well, staying true to the T.B.Brazelton "Touchpoints" theory, Augi has had a cognitive spurt recently which always results in no sleep at night. She woke up the other night at 3 and insisted we play babies for a few hours. Last night she woke up several times to practice all her new words. It is now past 9 pm and she is bossing her daddy around as they play cars. Who knows when we'll get her back down. She is talking up a storm now and she is following all sorts of directions, and speaking of pretend play--she was playing with her doll house today. The dolls were sleeping, eating and going "poop". That's pretty much Augi's life, so she is playing what she knows.
OHHHHH! I PASSED MY LICENSING EXAM!! We just found out today. One more hurdle (the easy ethics exam) next week and I will be fully licensed to practice. Hooray!

Santa is Coming!!!!

Augi got to open one present tonight. It was perfect, "BeeBee!!!" She fed it (we're calling her Norm), changed it's diaper (the diapers are too small. Dumb.), loved it, nursed it, and pushed it all over in the new stroller. I think Christmas can be too overwhelming for kids, so we wanted to give her the baby tonight rather than tomorrow morning. I am including a picture of the Christmas extravaganza at Grandma-Grandpa's. Keep in mind, the Christmas tree and gifts are PRE-SANTA!!! Ok, there are 4 families included there, but it is still too much. We are single-handedly keeping Target in business. I am just as guilty as the rest. Buying gifts is so wonderful. Augi is going to have so much fun tomorrow. She is getting another baby from auntie Lester. Well, for those of you who can't be here tomorrow, especially Gramma V, I wanted to put these pictures up quickly. Have fun! We will.
