Wednesday Play Day

Dayton is here again for a day of fun. I took them out to play in the sun and water. They had so much fun.

Augi and Agi

Tonight we attended a very special event...Agi's 90th birthday party. Most of you don't know that Augi's name was inspired by Agi Plenk. Agi is an important person in my life. She is a fiesty little lady who has made a positive difference in the world. Here they are, Augi and Agi...only 89 years apart!

One more...

This sweet little shot was taken by Tammy, of course. If it was out of focus and overexposed and her eyes were closed, it would be mine.

More updates

OK, so I have a complaint from Jen about not updating this blog lately. Not all of us can be fabulous photographers who take thousands of pictures a day of our children. Brat.
Anyway, I still give in to any peer pressure, so here is an update. We have had so many stinkin' things to do lately. I was doing a little contract work, so our favorite sitter Nicole has been here. We are trying to get ready for the upcoming luau. Augi is cruising everywhere, but she is not yet walking. I reeeeeally want her to walk before we go to Austria. I don't want her to crawl along the isles in the plane (gross), and I want her daddy to see her first steps. She has about 3 weeks to get moving upright. We went to visit aunt Tammy and Uncle Bruce yesterday. Sadie and Avery were there to play too. Sadie is a little too big to be interested in Augi. The cartoons and the Love Sac were more fun for her. Avery was really sweet with her. She kept bringing her toys and patted her on the head. I think it is so cute when little kids act so mature when another younger child is around. Augi loves other kids, so she was thrilled to see them. This picture is from the little wading pool at Tammy's. Augi loved the water. I know, the suit is overkill. I am so paranoid about the sun damaging her little skin. She didn't seem to mind one bit, so don't hassle me.
Augi says Dada, Hi, Uh-Oh, and Nanny. She seems to have forgotten mama. She is using some signs: more, finished, water, eat, and dog. Sadie and Avery were trying to model signing "water" for her yesterday because she was refusing to show Tammy that she knows some signs. It was really cute.
Oh, by the way, I recently made a vow to not watch any movies in which someone dies, gets seriously hurt, doesn't have a happy ending, or makes me think about world political issues. This pretty much limited me to Napolean Dynamite. Although, he does get hurt when he goes off the bike jump. Anyway, we are watching Syriana right now and it is going against every one of my criteria. Any suggestions for movies is greatly appreciated.

Papa's Girl

There is no question that Augi loves her Papa. I think he kind of likes her too.

Playing with Cousins

Augi's cousin Dayton came to visit us this week. It was a fun day. Dayton is 10 months older than Augi. "Share" is not really in the vocabulary of a 10 or 20 month old. So, our day went a little like this:

"Myyyy Tuuuuurn..."

"Give it!"

"Ha, ha, I got it!"

Dayton better watch out--he might be able to splash Augi now, but she will be walking soon enough and she will have revenge on her mind.

In the end, they were friends again. Plotting all the ways they will get in to trouble together later. As soon as they figure out how to get out of this little cage...

Sneaky Birds

Don't you hate it when you are just sitting around, minding your own business, enjoying a french fry, and a sneaky old peacock sidles up to you?

Finally!

Chris called me at work today to tell me he took this picture. Augi was supposed to be asleep (she was taking a nap after waking at 4:45 am this morning!)and he heard a little rustling around on the monitor. He went in to check on her, and found her petting Nanny on her lap! This is the first time they have ever snuggled together. I hope this is the beginning of a great relationship between my two girls.

Flashback to the 70's

Holiday Weekend?

The weekend went too quickly. Nanny and Augi are starting to get closer. Only when Augi has a treat for Nanny, though. Chris is busy working on the sprinklers. He says most people hire someone to put in sprinklers. But, he is a perfectionist, so he will do it himself. I guess I should say he spent 1/2 the weekend working and the other 1/2 waiting for the rain to stop. Today was beautiful. I am miserable when the temp gets above 80, so this weather is perfect. We planted more flowers. Our beloved Becky brought us over some Moon Beam Coriopsus. I am learning so much about flowers. We have this big, random garden. I don't think it is going to win any awards, but I love to see what grows. Augi likes to pull the daisies apart.
Well, Augi throws tantrums now. She flings herself backward and cries if we tell her no or take away a forbidden item. I guess I never realized tantrums started quite this early. She has two more days of daycare and I have 4 more days of work before we summer vacation starts. With the exception of a few teaching jobs I have lined up, we will be together for 10 weeks straight! I am grateful for our trip to Austria--the Brandl children will be wonderful entertainers for Augi. I am going back on my own "no t.v." rule and I will purchase one of those little portable DVD players for the flight to Europe. A few hours won't permanently damage her brain. At least I hope not.

Bowling Anyone?

Augi is all dressed and ready for bowling. Or maybe Chuck-A-Rama for lunch.

Race for the Cure

We participated in the Race for the Cure today. We had our friend Nancy in our minds as we walked. It only took us 73 minutes to complete 3 miles!! Augi napped for most of the walk. She loved people-watching. We walked with our friends Becky and Valerie. It was a beautiful day.
Tomorrow is my first mother's day. It is a strange and wonderful thing to be a mother now. Sometimes, when I am walking into the daycare, I have to stop and think about what I am doing. It doesn't always feel real.

Check out those legs!

Augi is eating well. People constantly comment about her voluptuous legs.
They will soon be thinning out, though--she is officially crawling. We will also lose some weight as we chase her around. She is so happy now. She can get to whatever she wants, whenever she wants.
Augi and I visited our friends Auntie Kris and Uncle Don this weekend. They gave us some beautiful plants for our garden. Chris almost has the sprinklers finished. We are already beginning to plan our annual luau--Mark your calendars for July 1!

Reading with Papa

Hangin with Grandma Valerie

Weekend fun

Oh, the weather was so nice this weekend. We spent Friday with grandparents and cousins, Saturday around the house, and Sunday with a visit from grandma, Aunt Tammy, and Uncle Bruce. Augi's favorite friend Nicole came by to hang out for a few hours on Saturday. It is so nice to have the time to get a few things done. Augi still only scoots around a little. She knows crying for me is a much faster mode of transportation! Only 5 more weeks before summer break!

NEWS FLASH!!!

I was just visiting Augi at daycare for our daily lunchtime break. She made 3 little "crawls" forward!! She is going to be mobile in no time. Is this time to be excited or cry? Let the baby proofing begin...

Bored meetings?

Augi went to a board meeting with me today. She was great! She screamed and laughed the whole time. She is getting to be such a big girl. I think she missed her papa, though. She squealed with delight when I showed her his picture. Check out the link to her Aunt Tammy and Uncle Bruce's blog.
