Painting Pumpkins Purple

Augi picked out a cute pumpkin last night and couldn't wait to paint it her favorite color: PURPLE!
This kid loves purple. She says, "I like purple." and has a complete meltdown if someone else says they also like purple--because purple is HER color. So, I have to like pink or brown or whatever. Never purple.
Life is crazy right now for me. I am considering a new job and I have my first private practice client next week. I wish I had a crystal ball to tell me which choice to make with the jobs. OOOOOO--maybe I should go to a psychic. Psychics always know the answers.

Antelope Island

Last weekend we went to Antelope Island with Kaisy and Kaedyn. They had lots of fun, but it was really windy and started raining, so we didn't stay long. They got to see several buffalo, so that was exciting. Maybe I shouldn't disclose this...but when I was a child I though Captain Kangaroo was filmed on Antelope Island. Who knows where I got that idea!

Updates

Every once in a while Augi stops to allow the papparazzi to take a quick picture. Life is hard for a little diva.

There always seems to be something fun happening for us. We used our Wednesday fun day to spend some quality time with the cousins.

Don't we all have a picture in front of the big stretched out gorilla? Augi was trying to show Zion how to stand by it. So, he folded his arms. Little stinker.

Chris took these cute pics of Augi playing in the yard with Bobo. Yes, Bobo was the name of our original boy bunny. I tried to name this little guy Ziggy. Augi would have none of that. So, this is Bobo the second. He is a sweet little guy. We have been letting him run around the yard. He loves Augi and runs up to her every few minutes to sniff her.

Take note of the jammies Augi is wearing. She now wears these ALL the time. She wants to be a "teeny baby." Well, I wanted her to wear some warmer jammies last week, so I told her these were the jammies she wore when she was a teeny baby. My punishment for lying to her? She has had several HUGE tantrums over changing out of her jammies. Damn. Now what do I do? They are all stretched out and dirty. She lets Sarah change her into her regular clothes, but not me.

Happy Summer Ending...

Summer isn't really over, but going back to work makes it feel as if it is. As I looked at these pictures today, I started to feel sad. This summer went by so quickly. Augi is growing. She uses real words and full sentences. It is hard to say goodbye to my little baby, even if the little girl she is becoming is wonderful. The other night I was really frustrated with her because she wouldn't go to sleep. Then, I realized that I am not going to get to hold her forever, so I should enjoy the nights when she just wants to lie in my arms and chatter, even if it takes two hours!
Augi loves Sara, Tanner, and baby Libby. I am happy with the new daycare situation. I miss her during the day, but I feel so much more satisfied at the end of the day when I work. I can appreciate all of the moments I have with her. Waiting for the train at the zoo.
We spend most of our time at the zoo playground.

Nooshy.

Dayton, Augi (aka "Augz"), Nanny and I walked to the playground today. Nanny chilled in the wagon while the kids played. I haven't posted many pictures of her, but I thought this was cute. I start back to work tomorrow. That means getting up at 6 am and getting myself and Augi out of the house by 7. Ugg. We were going to start practicing 2 weeks ago. Well, the alarm went off every day at 6, I hit snooze, and we went back to sleep til 8. So, here we are, back to work and no practice. Augi did go to sleep by 8, so hopefully she will be able to wake up easily. Chris and I are watching a movie with Cameron Diaz acting very poorly. I am swearing I will be to sleep by 1030. We'll see.
My grandfather's funeral was yesterday. I am glad it is over. I will miss him.

Sad News.

I just received word today that Augi's great grandparents have passed away. My grandfather died two days ago and my grandmother passed away in May. It is very sad. I haven't stayed close to my family, so nobody remembered to call in May. It doesn't really make a difference to know now or in May. Either way, I have lots of regrets. I hadn't seen them in three years or so. My grandfather used to call weekly, until last year when he was put in the nursing home with my grandmother. I couldn't go visit them until this summer because Augi couldn't tolerate a long car ride. We planned to go this summer, but never got around to it. In fact, Chris was just thinking about it this morning, trying to come up with a plan. The drive was only 3 1/2 hours, but that seems like forever and becomes 5 hours with a little person. Anyway, I have lots of guilt for not visiting them more often. They were an important part of my life and a big influence on who I am. I am sorry Augi did not get to meet them.

Fun Fun Fun

We have had a really exciting couple of days. First, we went to the frog exhibit at the Natural History Museum. I loved seeing all of the cool frogs. Augi was a little frightened, especially by the one frog who climbed all over the glass. She did enjoy lunch at the park with Chiana and Julia, though.

Then, today, Dayton was over to play. I went against my better judgement and got out the paints. Really, it was fine. They were both so well behaved and the paintings were beautiful. Maybe not Monet, but definitely Pollack worthy. You know, I have wondered how many times someone has looked at Jackson Pollack's art and said, "Well, I could splatter paint around and make that." But really, we never do it. So maybe he did have something there...

Then, tonight we went to the Davis County Fair. It was great. Augi got to ride a real pony and the look of joy on her face made waiting in line totally worth it. She loved the boat ride and train. She wasn't so thrilled with the airplane ride. Dayton is a daredevil and loved all of it!

Take my picture

Augi asked me to take her picture, well, she demanded that I take her picture today. She struck a pose as soon as I got out the camera. We are enjoying our last week of summer vacation before work and daycare begins. I am really nervous about Augi going to daycare. I know Sara is wonderful, but I worry that Augi will feel sad all day long. What if I feel sad all day long? Hopefully she will adjust, and so will I. I really do love working. The time away is good for both of us. We will have a trial run this week for a few hours.
We are watching home videos right now. Augi gets so excited to see herself as a "teeny baby." She has been talking about having a baby in her tummy. Very cute.
Augi is just getting over some wierd virus. She had three days of a high fever and some tummy trouble. She is enjoying being terrible now that she is two. I think she knows everything is about to change with summer ending. So, she wants nothing to do with her daddy and she is super clingy with me. I have to enjoy the cuddles when I can get them, but sometimes it is overwhelming, like when I have to carry her and her doll and her drink outside just to take the garbage out. Honestly, I love every minute of it. She will never be two again.

Tammy just sent me all these shots. I wasn't going to put them all up, but I can't choose my favorite. Decisions are so hard. We took Augi to Olive Garden for her birthday tonight. She wondered why the birthday song they sang was so weird. But, the chocolate cake was yummy! More pictures to come...Tammy took over 200!

Post, but No Picture

Happy Birthday Squig!!!! Augi is a little confused about why today is her "real" birthday. I need to figure out how to put a sound link on this blog so you can hear her sing the birthday song. It is so cute. We are taking her out to dinner tonight to celebrate. She finally started saying she is "2" yesterday. She is warming up to the idea.
We met her new sitter, Sara, today. I think it is going to be great. Sara is wonderful.
I am not posting a picture yet. We didn't take any at the luau, so I am waiting for those with cameras to send them to us. I tried to take a picture yesterday, but Augi spent most of the day in her birthday suit, not appropriate for public view. Today we just haven't had time. I will get one up, just be patient!
Check your email--I will send the audio recording to you.
P.S., if you click the link to cousin Munchy's blog, you can see pictures from the luau.

Birthday Cupcakes

Augi is so excited about her birthday. We have a ton of family birthdays this month, and hers is last. She is realy starting to understand what happens--the friends, cake, presents, singing, etc. She was thrilled to make her birthday cupcakes today. We are freezing them to be decorated at her party. They turned out really cute and we taste-tested a few. Yum! My PR rep informed me today that cupcakes are very "in" right now. She said Paris requested them immediately upon her release. All the in people are ordering cupcakes for their parties. Yeah, I know, we are trendy. It just comes naturally for us.

Grumble grumble

I have to have a stinky medical thing done tomorrow. I can't eat for 12 hours. Well, since I have to be there at 7 am, I haven't been able to eat or drink for 2 1/2 hours. I just started to panic because I am not sure when I will be able to eat tomorrow. OMG. I am hungry already. Someone better drive me. Maybe they should have admitted me tonight.
It has been a busy few weeks. Augi is so flippin' cute. We bought 2 pinatas for the luau today. One elmo, the other a pirate. Augi was talking about how we will smash them with a stick--she is very excited. However, she doesn't torture her prisoners. She carried them everywhere with her tonight. She even made me put a diaper on them. Yes, Elmo and Pirate pinatas are wearing diapers. She tried to take them in the tub, but I had to put my foot down. We did let them pull weeds in the flower garden with us. Well, I will post some pics, finally.

I know, she is going to kill me for the swimsuit shot. I just couldn't help myself.
Check out the Big Girl on the airplane. She is the best traveller.

Hangin' with the Lanes is so much fun. There are so many of them!

Here are the BFF's in action. Can't you just see them getting into mischief when they are older?

I really tried to get a nice shot of Dayton and Augi hugging. They just wanted to get on with playing in the wading pool at Liberty park.
